The Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (TAMFT) is a division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), an international professional organization established in 1942. Together, TAMFT and AAMFT are dedicated to the promotion of the profession of marriage and family therapy. The professional members of TAMFT are committed to the advancement of the MFT practice based on principles to enhance individual and family well-being for all Texas families.

TAMFT will host 2 exam prep workshops this year. The Spring Workshop was well received by professionals preparing for the LMFT Exam. MFT License Exam Preparation Manual
The TAMFT Board of Directors is committed to provide the necessary resources for up and coming new professionals in the field of marriage and family therapy. The 4th Edition was released in December 2008, containing updated and refined information intended to assist candidates preparing for the MFT licensing exam. The continuous effort to maintain current and useful information is due to a collaborative effort of the Committee, educators, practitioners and new professionals. Our Common Body of Knowledge is not only becoming increasingly popular among students preparing for the exam, but also attracts MFT professionals interested in reviewing the most current fundamental concepts and practices of marriage and family therapy.
